Legislation

HD6 is passing impactful, pragmatic & progressive policies in the House.

HB25-1105 PERA True-up of DPS Division Employer Contribution

Educators and school staff have signaled that they need help. This bill is part of an ongoing effort to provide more support and stand up for our educators in our community. This true-up puts an estimated $2,500 in the pockets of Denver Public School teachers and staff without affecting current PERA retirees or the overall financial health of PERA.

HB25-1238 Gun Show Requirements

This bill requires a gun show promoter to prepare a security plan and submit it to a local law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the gun show. It also requires promoters to obtain liability insurance for the gun show and install cameras to cover gun show spaces and parking lots. This common-sense gun reform policy is an important step to prevent illegal and unlicensed firearm sales and thefts in Colorado.

HB25-1132 Military Family Behavioral Health Grant Program

In my career in the Air Force, I have seen firsthand how military members, veterans, and their families struggle to receive the mental health treatment they require. HB25-1132 uses Prop KK funds to expand the military family behavioral health grant program to provide grants to local nonprofit organizations to establish or expand community behavioral health grant programs for military members, veterans, and their families.

HB25-1172 Children’s Mental Health Facility

Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF), which treat Colorado’s youth who require the most acute psychiatric care, should be safe and secure for their patients. HB25-1172 allows the Colorado Department of Human Services to maintain a secured fence around the perimeter of the planned PRTF campus in Fort Logan.

HB25B-1004 Sale of Tax Credits

In order to fill the $1.2 billion budget gap caused by President Trump’s infamous Big Beautiful Bill (H.R. 1), the General Assembly came together for a special session. Under HB25B-1004, a limited amount of tax credits will become available for auction to insurance companies and C-Corps, with revenue from these sales being directed to the General Fund. This is projected to raise at least $100 million, a critical step toward closing Colorado’s substantial budget gap.

SB25-133 Voidable Transactions

SB25-133 proposed changes to the Colorado Voidable Transactions Act that would better align with uniform law regarding voidable transactions in other states, as well as update some of the definitions and terminology used in the Act. This effort is important because it modernizes Colorado’s approach to handling questionable asset transfers and ensures that legal processes are clear and consistent with national standards.

SB25-300 Revisor’s Bill

The annual Revisor’s Bill amends, repeals, and reconstructs various statutory provisions of law that are obsolete, imperfect, or inoperative.

Cosponsorships

Cosponsorships signify a policymaker’s strong support for a bill, despite not having proposed the bill themselves. I cosponsored more than 120 bills and resolutions, including the Healthy School Meals for All Program, School Finance, Freedom from Intimidation in Elections, Protect Access to Gender-Affirming Health Care, and Insurance Coverage for Breast Cancer Examinations acts.
